How to Get Over Your Writer’s Block

Drink Some Coffee: There are plenty of things you can do if you don’t feel well and need to rejuvenate yourself. Drinking some coffee is a great way to do this especially if you don’t have a whole lot of time to exercise. Everybody gets writer’s block from time to time and you don’t need to worry too much about it but if you catch it in it’s infancy you will increase your productivity and save lots of time.

Where coffee is concerned, a quick shot or cup as soon as you feel the beginnings of writer’s block can help you. Just be sure that you don’t try to multi-task after you get this boost (which can sometimes take as much as a cup of coffee); use it to help you focus on what you are writing and do that first thing.

Get Started When You Wake Up: Starting on your projects as soon as you wake up in the morning can be a great way to fight against the stuck feelings of writer’s block and getting the project out of the way first thing in the morning. For example, if you get stuck on the very first paragraph of an article that you are trying to start, leave that paragraph for the morning when you’ll be fresh with ideas and not encumbered by distractions from the day. Doing other activities such as reading your email, checking Facebook or Twitter may eat up into your energy, which is why it’s recommended that you take care of the toughest job as soon as you wake up. Your mind is at the optimum level in the morning after a good night’s sleep and is at a better position to handle your writer’s block – so don’t let these precious few energy-filled hours go away.

Think Less, Write More: Most of the time writer’s block happens not because the writer doesn’t have enough ideas but because he or she is too busy thinking and planning instead of actually taking action. You need to go ahead with your writing without really being too focused on the thinking part or how it’s going to go.

The hardest part of writing is beginning, after you start things will get simpler. If over thinking makes you frustrated or angry, it is time to walk away from the project for a little bit and then come back to it later on.
